Our mission is to help people improve.
We created The Breakaway from a lifelong passion for cycling, fitness, building, and creating experiences for customers. We anchor on these in everything we do. We are here, doing this because we actually care.
We are a team of experienced builders (Ex-Strava, Tempo, Google, and Olympics), backed by some of the best partners in the business (YCombinator, General Catalyst, Norwest Venture Partners, Zone 5 Ventures and Goodwater Capital, to name a few). We are building more than just an app, and looking for more than just another teammate. We offer a remote team and are building a culture of execution and camaraderie. Come help us shape the world of digital fitness.
We are looking for diverse, driven, talented people who see problem solving and creation as oxygen, not just a job. We perform like athletes, always looking for ways to improve.
We are not a cycling company. We are not a tech company. We are an experience company and our goal is to help people improve their fitness, and in doing so, improve their life. That is the experience we seek. This is critical on a few levels:
We believe in harmony between work and life. This means working on something we believe in, with people we want to work with. It's not always easy, but it should be fun and our team, execution based culture and remote nature mean we are building a real business where passionate players can find a harmony between work and life.
We founded The Breakaway in Summer 2020. Born at the height of the pandemic, this team came together from a shared passion. We've been remote since day 1 so everything we do is built around communication and process that supports a global team. Today we have teammates in California, North Carolina, New Hampshire and Prague.
We are a team of builders. We have a bias towards action and execution. Minimal meetings, minimal BS, let's go build. Our team is seasoned with experience at companies like Strava, Tempo, The Athletic, Team Sky/INEOS and the Olympics. Yes that's right, our Head of Partnerships and Content has competed in the Olympics. Twice.
We know that a good workout fixes a bad day. We know that to improve, you need to be flexible and combine the right mindset, intention and execution day after day. We are building software to do this for our customers and process to do this for our teammates. This is a place where you'll be pushed (and supported) to get better.
